Mission Statement

The UCLA Community Health and Advocacy Training Program in Pediatrics is training a new generation of pediatricians who have the capacity to address the health and developmental problems facing today’s children. In addition to traditional competencies, future pediatricians need training and tools that equip them to:

  • address psychological, social, economic and environmental determinants of health,
  • utilize individual and community-based health promotion and prevention strategies,
  • advocate on behalf of children and families for more comprehensive and integrated community based services.

The UCLA CHAT program utilizes an innovative framework for our training activities, with the goal of stimulating organizational changes in our delivery models and fostering continuing community collaborative endeavors.
